Verify your sending domain (SPF & DKIM)¶
Verifying (authenticating) your domain tells mailbox providers like Gmail and Outlook that Flashissue may send email for your domain. It sets up SPF and DKIM for your domain, which helps your email reach the inbox and pass DMARC checks when you send from an address like you@yourcompany.com.
There are two kinds of verification in Flashissue:
| What it proves | How | |
|---|---|---|
| Address verification | You control one email address, so you can use it as From or Reply-To | Click a link in an email. See Add a sender address. |
| Domain verification | Your whole domain lets Flashissue send for it (SPF and DKIM) | Add DNS records at your domain provider (this page) |
Verify your address first so you can send from it. Domain verification is recommended on top of that for any custom domain.
Before you start¶
- You need access to your domain's DNS settings, at your registrar or DNS host (GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Google Domains/Squarespace, Namecheap, etc.), or someone who has it.
- You can't verify free-mailbox domains like gmail.com or yahoo.com. Only the owner of a domain can change its DNS.
Step 1: Add your domain in Flashissue¶
- In the Flashissue menu, open Sending Domain. You can also go to Account Settings and click Authenticate Sending Domain.
- Enter your domain (for example
yourcompany.com, withoutwwwor@) and click Submit.
Step 2: Copy the DNS records¶
Open the domain to see its records. Flashissue shows three records, labelled MAIL_CNAME, DKIM1 and DKIM2. Each record has:
- a type (CNAME),
- a host (the name to create at your DNS provider),
- a value (where the record points).
The host names and values are unique to your domain, so copy them exactly from the Flashissue page. Don't type them by hand from another guide.
Step 3: Add the records at your DNS provider¶
At your DNS provider, create one record for each of the three rows, using the type, host and value shown.
Tips:
- Some providers add your domain to the end of the host automatically. If the host Flashissue shows ends in
yourcompany.com, you might only need to enter the part before it. Check how your provider displays existing records. - Turn off any proxy or "CDN" option for these records (in Cloudflare, set them to DNS only).
- Don't delete existing SPF (TXT) or MX records. These CNAME records sit alongside them.
Step 4: Verify¶
DNS changes can take anywhere from a few minutes to 48 hours to spread. Go back to the domain page in Flashissue and click Verify DNS.
- When all three records check out, the status changes from Pending to Active.
- If a record fails, Flashissue shows the reason next to it. See Troubleshoot domain verification.
Removing a domain¶
To stop using a domain, open it and click Remove Domain. You can then delete the DNS records at your provider.
