Troubleshoot domain verification

If Verify DNS leaves your domain at Pending, read the reason shown next to each failed record (MAIL_CNAME, DKIM1 or DKIM2) and check the list below.

The records were only just added

DNS can take up to 48 hours to spread, though it's usually much quicker. Wait, then click Verify DNS again.

The host name has the domain twice

Many DNS providers add your domain to the end of the host automatically. If you pasted the full host, you might end up with ….yourcompany.com.yourcompany.com. Edit the record so the host has only the part before your domain.

The record type is wrong

All three records must be CNAME records, not TXT or A records.

The value has a typo or extra characters

Copy the value again from Flashissue. Check for:

  • spaces at the start or end,
  • a trailing dot your provider doesn't expect, or one that's missing where your provider needs it,
  • quotation marks.

The record is proxied

In Cloudflare and similar services, set the records to DNS only (grey cloud). Proxied CNAMEs don't resolve to the value Flashissue expects.

A record with the same name already exists

A host name can only have one CNAME record. If another record already uses one of these host names, remove the old one or ask your IT team about it.

You added the records to the wrong domain or DNS host

Make sure you edited DNS where your domain's nameservers actually point. If your registrar and DNS host are different companies, the registrar's DNS settings won't have any effect.

You can check the records yourself

Free online tools such as a "CNAME lookup" or "dig" tool show what the world currently sees for each host. If the lookup shows the value from Flashissue, click Verify DNS again.
