From vs Reply-To: what's the difference¶
Flashissue lets you set two separate addresses on every email.
| From | Reply-To | |
|---|---|---|
| What it does | Who the email appears to come from | Where replies go |
| Recipients see it | Yes, in their inbox list and email header | Only when they reply |
| Affects deliverability | Yes. Spam filters check it against your domain's SPF, DKIM and DMARC | Hardly |
| Must be verified | Yes | Yes |
| Default | Your Google account address | Your From address |
Which should I change?¶
- You want the email to look like it comes from your business: change From to an address on your business domain, and verify the domain. See Send as an alias or custom From address.
- You're happy with your From but want replies handled by someone else: change only Reply-To. See Set a Reply-To address.
- Your From is a Gmail, Yahoo or other free-mailbox address: those addresses often fail DMARC checks when another service sends for them. Consider a domain address as From, and keep your free address as Reply-To if you want replies there.
Older accounts¶
Flashissue used to have a single "From / Reply-To" setting. Addresses you verified there carry over and work for both fields.
