DMARC & deliverability

DMARC is a policy that a domain owner publishes to tell mailbox providers what to do with email that claims to come from their domain but fails authentication checks (SPF and DKIM). Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, Outlook.com and many companies publish strict DMARC policies.

Why it matters for Flashissue

Flashissue sends your email from its own servers. If your From address is on a domain with a strict DMARC policy, and that domain hasn't authorised Flashissue, receiving servers may send your email to spam or reject it. A typical bounce reason looks like:

550 5.7.26 ... DMARC policy

How to fix it

  1. Best: send from your own domain and verify it. Use a From address on a domain you control, and verify the domain so that SPF and DKIM pass.
  2. Don't use a free mailbox as From. Gmail, Yahoo and AOL addresses will fail DMARC when sent through any bulk service. You can still use a free address as your Reply-To. See From vs Reply-To.
  3. Auto domain switching (DMARC). In Settings, this option slightly changes the From address on your emails so they aren't blocked by DMARC. Most recipients won't notice any difference.

Delivery-policy blocks on your lists

If emails to someone were blocked for DMARC reasons, Flashissue may hide that contact from the list. You can review and restore these contacts. See Bounces & spam.
