List hygiene: purchased lists, validation, permission¶
No purchased lists¶
Flashissue only allows lists of people who agreed to receive your emails, or people you know personally. Purchased, rented or scraped lists count as spam. They cause bounces and spam reports, and they can get your account suspended. See Bounces & spam.
Clean out bad addresses¶
Old addresses bounce, and lots of bounces hurt your sending reputation. Once in a while:
- Export your list as a CSV.
- Run it through an email validation service.
- Keep only the addresses marked valid, then import them into a fresh list.
Remind people why they're getting your email¶
People forget they signed up. Add a short line at the top of your email, such as "You're receiving this because you joined our members' newsletter at Downtown Brewery." It cuts spam reports and builds trust.
