Keep emails from being clipped in Gmail

Gmail cuts off emails whose content is larger than about 102 KB and shows a View entire message link. Content means the text, links and HTML code. Images aren't included in the size.

Clipping doesn't remove anything, but many readers never click to see the rest, and an open may not be counted.

Make your email smaller

  • Write less. Shorter emails get more clicks. Link to the full article instead of including all of it.
  • Split it up. Send two shorter issues instead of one long one.
  • Avoid pasted formatting. Text pasted from web pages or Word adds a lot of hidden code. Use clear formatting (Tx). See Format text.
  • Use fewer blocks. Every block adds HTML.

Readers can also use the View online link at the top of the email to see the whole thing.
