Import a list (CSV / Google Contacts)¶
There are two ways to bring an existing list of addresses into Flashissue.
Option 1: Import a CSV straight into Flashissue¶
- Go to Lists.
- Click New List and choose Import List. To add to a list you already have, open it and click Import.
- Choose your CSV file and follow the prompts.
Tips:
- Include a header row with at least an email column. Add a first name column if you want to personalize your emails.
- People who've unsubscribed from your emails are never added back to a list, even if they're in your file. See Unsubscribes.
- Only import people who agreed to receive your emails. See List hygiene.
Option 2: Import into Google Contacts, then build a list¶
- Open Google Contacts and choose Import.
- Select your CSV or vCard file and import it. You can put the imported contacts under a label (group).
- In Flashissue, create a list from those contacts, or make a Google Contacts group list.
If Google rejects your file, the columns are usually the problem. Export a contact from Google Contacts as a Google CSV, then copy your data into that file's columns and import it again.
Export your Gmail contacts¶
In Google Contacts, choose Export, pick all contacts or one label, and choose a format:
- Google CSV to move contacts between Google accounts,
- Outlook CSV for most other apps,
- vCard for Apple Contacts.
